About Radius Dental Clinic

 

Radius’ Dental Clinic is a unique clinical practice that prioritizes dental care accessibility for individuals who may not otherwise be able to access, or afford, dental care. Radius offers dental care on a sliding fee schedule based on an individual or family’s income, and also prioritizes inclusive, non-judgmental, trauma-informed care. The Dental Clinic provides restorative and preventative care and features associate staff dentists as well as a partnership with University of Alberta dentistry and dental hygiene students.

Job Description

 

The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) role provides preventative dental hygiene services to full scope of dental hygiene practice. The RDH is a vital team member who will work collaboratively with dentists, as well as students from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene, to provide holistic, comprehensive oral healthcare

 

  • Performs preventive services such as polishing, scaling, topical fluoride applications and fissure sealants
  • Refers clients to dentists and specialists on a regular basis and in case of emergency.
  • Work collaboratively with clinic staff on recall and scheduling of routine dental hygiene services
  • Compliance to all relevant Alberta practice standards, including CRDHA standards and infection prevention & control guidelines

 

 

Qualifications

  • Registration with the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta as a Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check

 

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience with Dentrix an asset, as well as Office 365 software suite
  • Be able to work both co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team, and also independently in a self-directed and accountable manner
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding for those with addictions and behavioral disorders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has a good understanding of trauma-informed care, and must be able to operate within a harm reduction model of care
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse and marginalized populations
